About GiftPal

Who makes this site, what you can expect from the guides, and how it earns money.

Who is behind GiftPal

GiftPal is published by Next Day Online, a company based in the Netherlands. It is a small operation: the people who build the site also write and update the guides. There is no anonymous freelance pool churning out the articles.

Questions, corrections and complaints go to info@nextdayonline.nl and are read by a person, not a ticket queue.

What GiftPal does

  • A gift finder that turns a handful of answers (who it is for, the occasion, the budget, their interests) into a shortlist you can actually work with.
  • Gift guides per occasion and per recipient: birthdays, Christmas, weddings, retirement, teenagers, Secret Santa.
  • A blog for the questions people search for at the last moment: how much to spend on a wedding gift, what to buy for someone who has everything.

What GiftPal is not

  • Not a shop. You never buy anything here. We take no payments, hold no stock and ship no parcels. You finish your order at the retailer.
  • Not a test lab. We do not buy every product to test it, and we do not pretend otherwise.
  • Not a review site with scores. No star ratings, no "9.2/10", no scores we did not earn.

How we choose the gifts we list

Three languages, three markets

GiftPal runs in English, Dutch and German. The three versions cover much of the same ground, and where the local custom differs the guide differs with it: a Dutch reader gets a Sinterklaas guide, a German reader gets Wichteln.

Every version is read end to end in its own language before it goes live, and the picks are checked against what is sold in that market. Prices follow the market the page was written for: pounds on the English pages, euros on the Dutch and German ones.

Availability belongs to the same check. A product that only ships within the US has no place in a Dutch guide, however good it is.

How this site pays for itself

GiftPal is free and carries no display advertising. When you click through to a retailer and buy something, we can earn a commission. You pay the same price either way.

That commission does not decide what goes into a guide or in what order. The full policy is on the editorial page, including what we check per product and what we refuse to do.
